Background

 

As part of MSION transformational Strategy which aligns with MSI 2030 strategy under the Enabling pillar strategy,  MSION is looking to develop a strategy with clear implementation plan to ensure that MSION creates gender balance at management level and build strong women leaders in the Organisation over a period of 5 years.

 

The above will be delivered with MSION constituting a project team and appointing a Gender Lead for the Organisation, who altogether will work with the consultant, who had worked on related project focused on safeguarding and sexual misconduct with MSION, to deliver on the above. The following will be key responsibilities and deliverable for the consultant.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Consultant:

 

  1. Conduct assessment of the current status of gender mainstreaming in MSION
  • Meet with the Country Director, the Director, Human Resource & Administration and Gender Mainstreaming Project Lead to agree on deliverables and plans that will facilitate the delivery of such deliverables.
  • Liaise with the MSION Gender Lead to gather relevant MSION policies and legal framework that are relevant to gender mainstreaming in Nigeria
  • Work with the Gender Mainstreaming Project Team, the Gender Lead and the HR management Unit to plan the delivery of the project
  • Conducting assessment/ audit of current processes and practices in MSION to aid data gathering
  • Meet with a sample of the various cadres of the staff to feel the pulse of the organisation and the general experience around issues of gender and diversity in MSION through focused group discussions
  • Support the review of MSION’s service delivery processes to assess the measure of gender balance during service delivery
  • provide guidance for integrating gender sensitive approaches to service delivery via the various MSION service delivery channels to ensure that the programs and activities include a gender perspective

 

 

  1. Identify activities and develop indicators for monitoring the gender mainstreaming process in MSION
  • Develop gender indicators and system to collect data on the various institutionalized gender activities
  • Develop a monitoring plan to routinely review and reassess set strategies

 

  1. Deliver a Gender Mainstreaming Strategic and Implementation Plan
  • Identify and develop appropriate strategies for gender and diversity mainstreaming in MSION
  • Incorporate key findings from the meetings and interaction with team members into the content of the draft strategic and implementation plan as may be applicable
  • Meet with the Senior Management Team members to discuss the strategic plan to reinforce the sense of responsibility and accountability
  • Deliver a workshop with select key team members in MSION, in collaboration with a Technical Support person from MSI, UK where required to communicate the gender plan

 

  1. Make Recommendations on how MSION can achieve gender balance in management and leadership positions
  • Suggest pathway for developing and growing female team members into leadership positions
  • Recommend short-term and long-term action that can aid the achievement of gender balance in the Senior Management Team and other levels of leadership in MSION
