Marie Stopes International Organisation Nigeria (MSION) is a results-oriented Social Business, which uses modern management and marketing techniques to provide reproductive health care and allied services. MSION’s goal is to meet the needs of underserved Nigerians and dramatically improve access and use of a range of reproductive health services.

MSION is part of Marie Stopes International’s Global Partnership which is in over 37 countries worldwide.  MSION just won the Supporting Access for Adolescents to Integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health Services (Safire) Project and need a state coordinator of programme activities in Oyo and Ogun states. MSION through this project will ensure a strong continuum of care for women and girls who are self-administering medical product for post abortion care leveraging MSION’s contact centre to strengthen guidance around self-administration and aftercare while assisting with effective referrals

About this role:

This role is part of the Programs Operations Team responsible for the leadership of all demand creation activities across the program. Working closely with RM&E, Project Managers and Channel Leads and reporting to the Strategic Communications and Marketing Director, the BCC Manager analyses the behavior of MSION’s existing and potential clients and develops cost effective strategies and action plans to ensure value for money on all demand creation activities through the network of MSION’s demand creation team and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Under the oversight of the Regional Manager and the Community Mobilization Advisor, the Community Mobilization Officer carries out all aspects of communications, mobilization strategies and their implementation for the MS Ladies including but not limited to:

  1. Leading the development of Demand Creation Strategies

Activities include:

  • Articulate a clear demand generation strategy specific for the MS Ladies channel in your state.
  • Coordinate and Support activities of the MS Ladies Channel in your state.
  • Wide reading of any research that will inform targeting for demand creation for the MS Ladies – highlight key points across the demand creation team.
  • Networking regularly for information on the various activities for demand creation for the MS Ladies, levels of success, etc.
  • Establish Demand Creation KPIs in relation to the MS Ladies program strategy.
  1. Develop and Use effective Marketing materials to promote MSION Brand

Activities include:

  • Field Pretesting of developed Materials, programming field work for test and study.
  • Working on and developing Partnerships with local organizations for demand creation.
  • Ensuring Visibility compliance for all projects.
  • Clear on-going analysis of the market, by segment, location, accessibility, to ensure appropriate information is gotten, using the right format to ensure adequate coverage of locality for the MS Ladies.
  • Implementing media campaigns; use a broad range of electronic and media channels for impact.
  1. Clear communication for External Relations and Advocacy
  • Ensure relationships and networks with stakeholders, and relevant private, public and not-for-profit organizations are created and maintained with a view to strengthening MS Ladies’ impact in the state of operation.
  • Monthly Demand Creation bulletin- sharing ideas, success stories, failures and learning from across the program.
  • Be a focal point for all client communications and seek out new ways to actively provide clients and potential clients with new information.
  • Design campaigns to operate within an allocated project budget and monitor costs to ensure expenditure remains within budget.
  • Learn from and share best practices and innovations with other development partners.
  • Creating robust referral mechanisms to MSION’s service delivery points especially for MS Ladies.
  1. Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation

Work closely with the RME and other relevant technical services unit staff to:

  • Prepare and submit regular technical and progress reports to MSN according to schedules and guidelines

From time to time carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the line manager and/or management

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requisite Skills:

  • Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Technical expertise in the area of demand creation/marketing.
  • Excellent knowledge of a range of media (web, social, print) for information and demand creation.
  • Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets
  • Excellent spoken and written English and local language
  • Good computer skills (particularly Word, Excel and database)

Experience:

  • Have significant experience of high level representation and strong presentation skills
  • Familiarity and understanding of USAID policies and procedures (highly preferred), or those of other donors, donor funded projects, community- based projects, or corporate social responsibility projects an asset.
  • Knowledge of social marketing, reproductive health, maternal, HIV and/or child health preferred.
